Writing for college requires the development of a particular set of skills and study habits. The Writing and Critical Literacy Center at C-GCC assists Columbia-Greene Community College students in every aspect of the writing process\u2014from brainstorming to navigating citation protocols\u2014and the cultivation of the skills and habits they need to succeed as students at C-GCC and beyond through individual writing consultations, our online programming, and a curated collection of online resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Regarding Writing Consultations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">We help with materials, including but not limited to:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Course Work\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Essays<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lab Reports<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Presentation Slide Decks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Research Papers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All types of writing you do at C-GCC<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>College Transfer Essays<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cover Letters<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proposals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Job Materials<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">We help with the Writing Process:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>brainstorming ideas<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>developing outlines<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>reverse outlining<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>research practices<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">We help with global issues:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the structure of your document<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the \u201cflow\u201d or logical ordering of your ideas<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the appropriateness of your argument for your intended audience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the purpose of your writing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">We help with local issues:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>questions of clarity, cohesion, consistency<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>practices of Standard American English grammar, word choice, style, and punctuation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>sentence-level transitions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">We do not:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Copy-edit student work or review texts written by generative AI.
